About Us

Our Philosophy

At Level Wind Systems, great ideas often begin with a simple question: "Wouldn't it be wonderful if...?"

By combining Richard's engineering expertise, Jan's creative inspiration and teaching experience, and Sandy's lifelong knowledge of spinning, we turn those ideas into products designed to make your spinning experience even better.

We're proud to be a small business where innovation is personal, craftsmanship matters, and our customers are part of the journey.

From our family to yours, thank you for supporting Level Wind Systems. We look forward to sharing many more innovations with you!

The LWS Team

Meet the People Behind Level Wind Systems.

At Level Wind Systems, we believe spinning should be a joyful, relaxing, and rewarding experience. Our passion is creating innovative, thoughtfully designed tools that allow fiber artists to spend less time managing their equipment and more time enjoying the art of spinning.

Behind LWS is a small, dedicated team of three individuals who bring together engineering expertise, creativity, and a lifelong love of the fiber arts.

Jan Ford – Inspiration & Innovation

With years of experience teaching and spinning within the fiber arts community, Jan brings an invaluable perspective to My Autowinder.

Her firsthand understanding of what spinners need, along with her creativity and enthusiasm, helps spark ideas for new and innovative products. Jan plays an important role in bridging the gap between engineering possibilities and the everyday needs of fiber artists.

Her passion for teaching and sharing the art of spinning continues to inspire the products we develop.

Sandy Kunath – Our Spinning Expert

Sandy's love affair with spinning began at the remarkable age of four years old, and her passion has only grown stronger over the years.

Living on her small family farm in Minnesota, Sandy embraces the traditions and simple pleasures of fiber arts. As our on-staff spinning expert, she brings a lifetime of hands-on experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm to the My Autowinder team.

Sandy believes in spreading joy and peace through spinning, a philosophy that perfectly reflects the spirit of our company. Her experience and understanding of the spinning community help ensure our products are not only innovative but also practical and enjoyable to use.

Richard Ford – Engineering & Product Development

Richard is the engineering mind behind LWS / Autowinder's innovative products. An aerospace engineer with 12 patents to his name, Richard brings decades of engineering knowledge, precision, and creative problem-solving to the world of fiber arts.

His passion lies in taking an idea, solving a challenge, and transforming it into a practical, beautifully functioning product. From the Level Wind Flyer and Autowinder systems to the Majestic, Ghost and Ghostling Spinner, Richard's approach combines sophisticated engineering with simplicity and ease of use.
