- Efficiency: The autowinders do not require special gear-driven bobbins, oil, or the need to move yarn guides. They are powered by two or three alkaline AAA batteries that can last for weeks to months.
- Quality: The systems are made with self-lubricating composite materials and all stainless steel hardware. They also feature large interchangeable fiber guides.
- Maintenance: The systems are designed with large windows to help making it easy to keep flyaway fibers out of the works. Any fibers that do get in can be easily removed with a pair of tweezers.

Our Autowinder system is designed to work with Ashford Traditional spinning wheels equipped with the modern D-shaped flyer shaft and matching whorl.
The D-shaped shaft has a flat side on the metal flyer shaft that locks the whorl in place so it cannot spin independently. This design ensures proper alignment and reliable operation of the Autowinder system.
Earlier Ashford Traditional wheels used a threaded flyer shaft with a screw-on whorl. Unfortunately, those threaded systems are not compatible with the Autowinder.
Before purchasing, please check your flyer assembly to confirm it has the D-shaped shaft and slide-on whorl. If your wheel has a threaded shaft, upgrading to the modern Ashford whorl with D insert will allow you to use the Autowinder system.
